When I was in high school I had this teacher who gave us spelling words. Since it was my freshman year of high school I thought for sure we no longer have spelling test. Since I suffered from a mild case of dyslexia as well as dysnomia, the idea of not having spelling words filled me with jubilation. Spelling was not on my list of fun activities. However, this teacher had apparently decided spelling was good for freshman in high school who have to take the ACTs or the SATs and so therefore every Monday we received our spelling lists.
To help me remember the words, I would try to come up with strategies. My main strategy was combining my spelling words with other words to come up with the best band name ever.
I don’t remember many of my spelling words from that year… but I do remember one. Cacophonous. It’s an excellent word. The bad name you ask? The Cacophonous Cats. I think they’d cover polka.
